Went out to get birdsong and general ambience without realizing it was going to rain. First two minutes can hear birds and bugs and nature sounds, then past the 3 minute mark the rain begins to set in gradually.

Here, i tried to represent the rain with a thunderstorm in the background, a sound that can be used in a thriller, drama or other movies. To the sound of the rain i generated "white noise", amplitude to 1. Then, i changed the acute and bass across the track to show some instability of the rain. To highlight the suddenness of the rain, i put a fade in during the first 5 seconds with a reverberation from 6 to 50s to make a natural sound. Finally, i added a track recorded of a storm with -9db for the storm and + 11db for the rain.

I recorded this sound at home, in the belgian country during the end of a storm (but there is no thunder sound). You can hear rain falling and a river flowing nearby. Very relaxing and useful if you need a rainy ambient sound. I recorded this simply with a tascam dr-40 (internal mics) and just edit it properly with audacity.

Recorded in ny at 4:20 pm with a sound devices mix pre-3 and an audio-technica bp4025 microphone (with a rode blimp windshield). One hour and 14 minutes of rain, howling thunder, and an occasional bird. The file was edited and lengthened using goldwave and audacity.

This was recorded in chicago suburb of highland park. What you are hearing is the sound of the streets during the middle of the day. This recording was taken with the person recording familiar with the area. After listening back, the person recording heard several new sounds that were unfamiliar.

A field recording of light rain as it falls steadily in a hilly suburban area near the pacific coast highway and sea shore. The microphone was placed on a second-story window facing the street, though there was no traffic. You can hear the rain falling onto the roof, nearby pavement, trees, and ground. Rain in brittany on a windy winter day. I built this sound by mixing several field recordings made on the same spot: a small wood in the south of the region. These recordings had different focuses: some were more wind-oriented, others had more rain. . . Instead of publishing these individual takes, i chose to mix them in order to create a soundscape that would vary in density, depth and spacing. Recorded with a zoom h2n in x/y stereo mode. Mixed in nuendo 2. Mastered in sound forge 8.
